Meet the Team

Our entire board is actively involved in mentoring and preparing our contestants and titleholders. Each individual brings her own energy, expertise, and passion for the Miss America program to the team.


Board - Ashley Cranston

Ashley Cranston

Executive Director

Ashley has played an active role in the Miss America Organization since 2007. She started out by typing the script and helping with choreography for a local program in Oregon State and quickly volunteered to help with music, production, logistics, hostessing, emceeing, and with website and social media design and maintenance. She competed from 2010-2015, winning the titles of Miss Cascade in 2010 and 2013 (Oregon) and Miss East King County in 2015 (Washington State). Ashley has been a runner-up 11 times in 5 years and earned top interview, top fitness, community service awards and the CMNH Miracle Maker Award.

Ashley graduated from the University of Oregon in 2013 with her Bachelor’s of Architecture and a minor in Business Administration. After two years of working in the low-income housing firm in Seattle and giving up her title as Miss East King County she relocated to the Big Apple. She is currently actively pursuing her license in architecture as a Project Manager at Just Architecture in Brooklyn. Ashley continues to work with her platform “Junior Achievement: Financial Literacy for Every Student” as a volunteer mentor with Junior Achievement of New York. She lives here in NYC with her fiance¬†Alex, and her cat, Professor B.W. Maverick.

Board - Kyanna Lewis

Judge’s Chair / Legal Adviser
Kyanna Lewis has been involved with pageantry for the past 10 years, and knows first hand the incredible leadership training pageants provide. In addition to holding numerous pageant titles, Kyanna has served as a judge, a director, and a contestant coordinator in various pageants across the north east.

Outside of pageantry, Kyanna is a lawyer specializing in intellectual property litigation. She serves on various women and diversity in the law committees and enjoys mentoring aspiring lawyers and encouraging diverse candidates to pursue leadership careers.

Kyanna also enjoys countless hours volunteering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and is an avid hula hooper.

Kristen Stilwell

Kristen Stilwell


Kristen Stilwell is a fairly new face to the Miss America Organization having only competed twice! She won her first and only local title, Miss Manhattan 2015, at her first competition ever and placed 3rd runner up at Miss New York. As Miss Manhattan Kristen promoted her platform “Not There Yet: Fighting for Gender Equality” which she continues to work with today. After passing on her crown Kristen was awarded the title Miss Gotham City USA and continues to promote her personal platform as well as Aids Awareness while actively partnering with organizations like GMHC to raise money for AIDS research.
Outside of pageantry, Kristen works for Jovani Fashions in Midtown! She graduated from Boston University in 2013 with a Bachelors of Science in Film and Television Production and a concentration in Cultural Anthropology. While at BU Kristen was a 4 year member and senior captain of the nationally ranked Boston University Dance Team. Following graduation she worked with the Universal Dance Associate teaching, choreographing and coaching high school and college dance teams across the country.
Kristen is excited to continue her involvement with the Miss New York and Miss America Organizations through volunteerism and mentoring.
